About Us

drtEnterprises has a solid background in copy editing technical manuscripts for scholarly journals and books, most of which have a focus in the scientific, engineering, and medical fields. Click here to see a list of the journal and book titles that we’ve worked on.

We also help authors communicate clearly by polishing their manuscripts until they are well written, easily understandable, and convey a sense of professionalism and confidence about their topic or business to their target audience.

The company principals are Donna R. Thompson, president, and Peter L. Thompson, vice president.

Publishing is Donna’s passion, and her career in publishing spans over three decades. Prior to launching drtEnterprises in 2004, she was managing editor of reference publications at ASME International, where she was responsible for all aspects of journal production for technical engineering journals and an abstracts database during her ten years with the company; an assistant editor at Industry Publications; and an associate editor at the American Electroplaters’ Society. She is also the publishing director and co-owner of Woodpecker Press, LLC, a publishing company designed to help authors self-publish.

Donna is a member of the Essex County Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners, serving on the Board of Trustees since 2005. She received the chapter’s Teal Heart Award in 2007 for her outstanding contributions to the organization, and was named NJAWBO Essex Businesswoman of the Year in 2009. She is a former member of the Advisory Board of the Rutgers-Newark Small Business Development Center (2006-2008). She is also a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and former member of the Society for Scholarly Publishing.

Donna has also been active in her community, serving on the Cedar Grove Board of Education (1999-2003). In 2003, she cofounded the Cedar Grove Education Foundation, Inc., and served as its president from 2005 to 2008.

Peter has been editing engineering and scientific books and journal manuscripts as well as books of fiction and nonfiction for more than 12 years. Prior to that, he had a successful career as a mechanical engineer for more than 20 years. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

drtEnterprises is recognized as a woman-owned business by the State of New Jersey.
